III. The Power of 2: How do lessons work?

With SkyJoy Piano Music Pedagogy, students take two lessons each week, hence the power of 2!

SkyJoy Piano Music Pedagogy covers all areas of key piano education, including

  • I. technics (scales and arpeggio)
  • II. piano pieces (etudes and different genres of piano literature)
  • III. sight-reading
  • IV. aural tests
  • V. music theory
  • VI. performance*

Each week’s study starts with personalized piano lessons equipped with classical piano training to progress in piano playing skills and musicality (aligns with Section I&II). Curriculum is designed to align with student’s needs and skills. *

*Sibling curriculums are available for families have multiple children starting with SkyJoy at the same time.

Then, each week, student joins the group music competency class (aligns with Section III, IV & V) that is designed to enhance student’s music competencies and ability to sight-read piano music, to understand different genres of piano music, to grasp key aspects of music theory, to create music of their own, as well as to perform for the group in music salon. Music competency is part of any professional music exam globally, particularly in ABRSM exams.

*Performance with Music Salon and Recitals: Students showcase their piano pieces each week at the music salon segment of the group class, as well as 2-3 recitals each year.

Daily Practice: daily practice is expected for every student with SkyJoy.

Attendance: Full and on time attendance are expected for each piano and group class to ensure students’ learning progress. Details are provided to each student at the start of the learning.

Thanks to the robust and holistic training of SKYJOY pedagogy, students at SKYJOY have proven with increased music ability in many performing groups, not limited to piano, but orchestra, chorus and theatre vocal programs.
